The best results with zero compromise
As we age, our skin faces trauma on all fronts. The sun, hereditary and genetic conditions, dietary, and environmental influences take their toll on even the best of us. Ablative fractional lasers provide the strongest results, reducing and eliminating deep wrinkles, pockmarks, and other irregularities.
How does Alma PixelPerfect™ work?
PixelPerfect is not your mother’s (or father’s) CO2 laser. In comparison to old CO2 lasers of yesteryear, the PixelPerfect laser is fractionated, which means that it creates a series of micro-perforations in a grid-like pattern on the skin. These tiny ablations (cuts) stimulate high levels of collagen remodelling and neocollagenesis without unnecessarily charring or otherwise damaging the surface of the skin. The result? Better treatment outcomes and reduced downtime.
How does Sciton® ProFractional™ work?
ProFractional employs a computer-guided erbium:YAG laser laser that delivers 2940 nm laser to create clean, micro-cuts in the skin. As compared to CO2, the ProFractional Erbium laser is able to vaporize tissue with very little thermal conduction, which in turn causes less unnecessary damage. Leaving surrounding tissue intact helps promote rapid healing due to presence of stem cells and melanocytes in the papillary dermis.
Which laser is right for me?
In comparison to the Sciton Profractional, the PixelPerfect CO2 laser can cause more thermal/heat damage to the tissue, resulting in more drastic results. However, both lasers produce impressive results. Think of it this way: You wouldn’t tell a Michelin Star Chef in a fine dining establishment which type of non-stick pan to use. At the end of the day, it’s more about the skill of the chef (or esthetician) than the pan (or laser technology).
What areas of the body can be treated?
The face, neck, chest, arms, and hands are popular treatment areas but the laser can be used almost anywhere.
How many treatments will I need?
Consistent, predictable results are obtained in just one visit. Patients with deep wrinkles, entrenched acne scars, or highly irregular pigment may elect to repeat the treatment a second or third time to maximize results.
What conditions can be treated?
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Sun damage/dyschromia
- Skin texture
- Acne scars
- Pigmented lesions
- Improves appearance of enlarged pores
- Medical dermatology/actinic keratoses
What can I expect before and during treatment?
You will enter the treatment room and be asked to lay back in a treatment chair while your face is cleaned. Next, a topical numbing cream will be applied and be given ample time to take effect. Depending on level of treatment intensity, we may recommend the use of nitrous oxide during your treatment as a pain reduction strategy. When it’s time to begin the session, your eyes will be covered with safety shields, the laser esthetician will position the handpiece above the skin, and begin a computer-guided process to treat the selected area. Expect the entire process to last 30-60 minutes.
How long is recovery and what can I expect?
Following treatment, expect your face to feel very warm, similar to a strong sunburn. Follow the guidance on the use of moisturizing creams over the course of the next few days. Your face will feel itchy but resist the urge to touch it. It commonly takes 1-3 days for the swelling to subside and for the results to begin to show. Avoid direct sunlight until your face has completely healed.
- Avoid tanning beds and spray tans for 14 days prior to treatment
- Avoid retinols and topical exfoliants for 14 days prior to treatment
- Avoid sunlight as much as possible prior to treatment
