Botox FAQs
Botox® and Neurotoxin FAQs: Everything You Need to Know
Considering Botox® or neurotoxins, but have questions before your first treatment? You’re not alone—Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments, and patients often want to understand how it works, how long it lasts, and what to expect before and after injections. At Esthetic Solutions, our goal is to provide safe, natural-looking results while making sure you feel confident and informed every step of the way. Below, we’ve answered the most frequently asked questions about Botox and nuerotoxins, from treatment benefits and cost to safety and recovery, so you can decide if it’s the right choice for you.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is an FDA-approved neuromodulator or neurotoxin derived from botulinum toxin type A. When injected in small doses into targeted muscles, Botox is used in the cosmetic industry to temporarily paralyze or relax them to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the area, creating a more refreshed, youthful appearance. Botox is one of the most popular neurotoxin brands used to non-surgically treat: crow’s feet, frown lines (also known as 11s), forehead lines, smile lines, a gummy smile, bunny lines, and a dimpled chin.
What does Botox do?
Botox temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes. It can also be used for medical conditions such as migraines, jaw clenching, and excessive sweating.
How long does Botox last?
Botox results typically last 3 to 4 months, depending on factors such as the treatment area, muscle activity, and your body’s metabolism. With regular treatments, many patients notice their results last longer as the muscles become trained to relax.
Which neurotoxins do you offer?
We offer:
BOTOX®
Xeomin®
Dysport®
JEUVEAU®
How much is Botox per session?
The price of Botox depends on the number of units used and the area being treated. At Esthetic Solutions, Botox is priced per unit. Most patients spend between $300–$800 per session, depending on their personalized treatment plan.
How much does Botox cost per unit?
Botox cost varies by provider, location, and treatment goals. On average, Botox costs $12–$15 per unit, with total treatment pricing based on how many units are needed. During your consultation, we’ll create a customized plan so you know the exact cost before treatment.
What is in Botox?
Botox is made from botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that blocks nerve signals to muscles. The formulation also contains inactive ingredients such as sodium chloride and human albumin to stabilize the solution.
How many units of Botox for forehead?
The number of Botox units needed for the forehead depends on age, muscle strength and individual goals. On average, patients require 10–50 units to smooth horizontal forehead lines. Your injector will determine the exact amount during your consultation.
How long does Botox take to work?
You may start to notice Botox results within 3 to 5 days after injections, but full effects are typically visible at 10 to 14 days. Results gradually improve as the muscles fully relax.
Is Botox dangerous or bad for you?
When administered by a licensed, experienced injector, Botox is considered safe and effective. Side effects are minimal and temporary, such as slight redness or swelling at the injection site. Serious side effects are extremely rare.
What is “baby botox”?
Baby Botox refers to using smaller amounts of botulinum toxin (Botox) than traditionally used to treat areas. In many cases, “baby botox” is requested by younger individuals who want to start off with a small dose to prevent or minimize the appearance of aging.
Can you get Botox while pregnant?
No. Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because safety has not been established. It’s best to wait until after pregnancy and nursing before receiving treatment.
What not to do after Botox?
After Botox, avoid the following for the first 4–6 hours:
Lying down flat
Rubbing or massaging the treated area
Intense exercise
Drinking alcohol
Excessive heat exposure (saunas, hot yoga, tanning)
These precautions help prevent the product from spreading to unintended muscles.
Can Botox cause cancer?
No. There is no evidence linking Botox to cancer. Botox is FDA-approved and has been studied extensively for both cosmetic and therapeutic use.
How long after Botox can you lay down?
It’s best to wait 4–6 hours before lying down after Botox injections to ensure the product settles properly and does not migrate.
How much is masseter Botox?
Masseter Botox, used to slim the jawline or relieve teeth grinding, typically requires more units than cosmetic wrinkle treatments. The cost usually ranges from $400–$800 per session, depending on the dose.
Can you exercise after Botox?
Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after Botox. Light walking is fine, but high-intensity workouts can increase blood flow and risk of bruising or product migration.
Can you workout after Botox?
It’s recommended to wait 24 hours before working out. This ensures optimal results and reduces the chance of side effects.

When should I schedule my treatment if I have an event coming up?
You should plan your treatment 7–14 days before an event. It takes some time for the results to fully settle in.
Will I experience any side effects?
You may experience some initial bruising, although it’s not common. Bruising will fade within 3-5 days after treatment.
